Uniquely Singapore

For the past month, I am beginning to believe that Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has chosen the correct slogan to identify Singapore. We are indeed unique, very much so.

We are the only people in the world to build our buildings to look like dishes (New Supreme Court) and fruits (Esplanade). Are we really that enthusiastic to drive our reputation as 'food haven'??

We are the only people to disallow our people to spit around but have our National icon(if you consider the Merlion to be ours) do it everyday

We are the only people in the world who sincerely and strongly want to believe that we are kind people. We believed a particular CEO naively and obediently donated tons of money to be stored up as 'peanuts'. The truth is, we are just a bunch of ungraceful, unfeeling and unhelpful 'villagers' who never really evolved since our 'kampong beginnings'. Oh by the way, did anyone helped when some young teenager drowned in a particular reservoir lately.

We are the only people in the world who voted an ah beng to become our idol runner up, have him come out with an album with an awfully outlandish album cover to sell to the world. Oh, it didn't sell well in Taiwan (main chinese music industry) did it? Or is it just that the marketing team didn't know how to market the album with its obiang skin. Doesn't matter, invite that particular CEO. He knows just the way to do it. How do you think he racked up that much peanuts??

And of course, who can forget? We will probably be the only people to have voted a unique person to be our next male1 绝对 superstar. Haha, it didn't hit Singaporeans that a 绝对 superstar has to know how to dance, sing very very well act well in MTVs and look good. They probably didn't understand the words in Chinese (绝对) because Singaporeans don't have a good command of their mother tongue. They probably didn't know that what kind of superstar we choose will reflect our taste viewed by foreigners. They still wanted very much to believe we are kind and loving country and we have pity for other people who are brave courageous and 'heroic'. Ahhhh... Pity. Thats the word. Those ignorant people (apparently a lot of them) imposed their will on other Singaporeans by force of their sms votes just because they felt that its right to support and sympathise with brave courageous disadvantaged underdogs. They probably didn't know that we are choosing a superstar and this is not a courage contest. If it was a courage contest then I would win it for daring to write such a controversial and harsh piece of posting.

Junyang and Derrick, its okay. Because if you don't experience difficulties and setbacks how are you going to become our real 绝对 superstars

Uniquely Singapore , how really appropriate!!! STB, thank you. How did you do it? Well done

Uniquely Singapore, thanks for the laughter that you have brought to me. I love you

Start

Haha.... My first blog posting is here. I am probably one of the last people on this planet to catch the blogging craze. I am slow in everything concerning technology.... But after looking at Basu (one of my good friends) blogging so happily away like a superstar, I decided that I was going to give it a try. Haha, so look out for more on this blog. And thanx for making the effort to read it.
