忠言逆耳(Sound advice jars on the ears)

刘备(Liu Bei, Xuande) was a great, kind and much respected king during the three kingdoms period.

He earned the respect and admiration of many, civilians and talent alike. Even 曹操(Cao Cao) and 孙权(Sun Quan), his enemies admired him for his humility and integrity as a person. This is why he won the services of 诸葛孔明(Zhuge Liang, Kongming) the greatest war tactician during the period.

He and 关羽(Guan Yu, Yunchang) were sworn brothers. And that time, sworn brothers dun just smoke together and go cinema watch show and after that drink beer at kopitiam. They fight eat and even lay their intestines on the floor for each other.

So when Guan Yu died at the hands of Sun Quan and company at East-Wu, Liu bei was vey very angry. He was so angry that his yell was heard three mountain ranges away... No lah, I anyhow say one. But he was depressed and angry.

And what do men last time do when they get very angry? They take revenge.

So Liu Bei led about 150000 troops to fight against Sun Quan and company at East Wu. Before he went on the campaign, his ministers have all tried to stop him, most strongly of them all was Zhuge Liang himself. Zhuge Liang say that great men shouldn't act rashly and be dictated by his anger. He also adviced Liu Bei to plan and wait for the correct time to attack. Ruled by emotions, Liu Bei refused.

He failed horribly in his campaign, all the more without Kongming by his side. A general called Lu Su, though no smarter than Kongming himself, managed to burn all seven hundred miles of Liu Bei's camp at war. Liu Bei probably lost without putting up a strong fight.

Because he failed at the campaign, he was left to rue his loss and his foolishness not to listen to Kongming and company. From then on, because of the loss at war and of Guan Yu, Liu Bei took ill at the small city of Baidi (白帝) and finally died there.

Sometimes you just have to listen to others to stay out of trouble. Don't always be so stubborn. It may not have done you in now. You might think that you are where u are now because you have been stubborn and will continue to be. But dun worry, someday u will learn the value of good advice, maybe the hard way. As they say, good advice jars on ears(忠言逆耳)
